Kaas in the morning, thali in the afternoon
We drove up for the flowers and ended up staying an extra night. Kaas Plateau is barely ten minutes away, and coming back to a hot home-cooked thali on the terrace was the best part of the trip.

Spotless rooms, unreal valley view
The villa was sparkling clean and the backwater view from the balcony at sunset is something photos don't do justice to. Beds were comfortable and the cool valley breeze meant we slept with the windows open.

Hosting like family
Aunty cooked bhakri and a village-style chicken curry for us and sat down to plan our whole itinerary, Vajrai falls, Bamnoli boating, Sajjangad. It felt like visiting relatives, not booking a hotel.

Perfect for a family of nine
We took the whole three-bedroom villa for a family weekend. Plenty of space, a garden for the kids, bonfire in the evening and breakfast waiting for us in the morning. Zero complaints.

Quiet, green and utterly restful
Woke up to birds instead of traffic. Misty mornings over the Kanher backwaters, no noise, no crowd. Exactly the break we needed and the food was genuinely home-style, not restaurant food.

Worth every rupee
Booking was simple, the host called to confirm arrival time and even kept dinner warm when we reached late. The cottage is cosy and the valley view from bed in the morning is unbeatable.

A note from your host
Hi! I'm Sovhita Shalgar, and it gives me immense joy to welcome you to Shalgar Villa.
Since 2016, hosting our heritage homestay has been one of the most beautiful journeys of my life. A microbiologist turned entrepreneur, I have always loved cooking and feeding people, and Shalgar Villa gave me a wonderful opportunity to share that love with guests from all walks of life.
Nestled just 4 km from the world heritage site of Kaas Plateau, our villa overlooks the serene backwaters of Kanher Dam and is surrounded by misty valleys, mountain views and the soothing sounds of nature. From peaceful mornings to glowing sunsets, every moment here is special.
