Families with children
Level lawn, simple food children actually eat, no traffic outside the gate and a host family used to little guests.
Travelling with small children is mostly about logistics: where they can run, what they will eat, and how far the nearest doctor is. Shalgar Villa answers all three, which is why the same families come back every monsoon.

A level, enclosed lawn set back from the road, so children can run without anyone watching the gate.
Plain dal-rice, chapati, khichdi, milk, eggs and fruit, always available alongside the regular thali.
Board games, carrom, lawn cricket, cows and birds to spot, and a waterfall drive that never gets old.

Rooms take extra mattresses for children at a small charge, and the three-bedroom villa keeps a large family together under one roof. Tell us ages while booking and the bedding is ready before you arrive.

Please keep children away from the valley edge, the bonfire and the barbecue, and supervise them on the ghat road. Hot water, a first aid box and a torch are kept in the house; Satara hospitals are about 20 km down.

Kaas Lake for an easy picnic, Ekiv waterfall for a short walk, Kaas Plateau in flower season for an hour before the sun gets high, and Thoseghar for the older ones who can handle steps.
