About us
Heritage house, home-cooked food and a view that changes with every hour of the day.
A boutique property nestled just 4 km from the world heritage site of Kaas Plateau, the Plateau of Flowers. It overlooks the serene backwaters of Kanher dam and is surrounded by misty valley views.
Mountain views and the soothing sound of birds fill the mornings, while evenings bring glowing sunsets over the calm water. The best resort to stay near Kaas Plateau, offering comfortable stays for families and nature lovers seeking a restful break.
Home-cooked food is one of our highlights, fresh Maharashtrian meals served with warmth, prepared with local ingredients to give you a taste of authentic, simple flavours. Shalgar Villa ensures you return refreshed, with wonderful naturistic memories.
The house has been built and hosted by the Shalgar family since 2016. Red laterite stone walls, a green roof, arched verandahs, a courtyard big enough for cricket and an outdoor fireplace for cold nights, all of it looked after by people who live here rather than a front desk that changes every season.
Two villas share the property, a spacious three bedroom house for larger groups and a cosy one bedroom villa for couples and small families. Between them we host family holidays, corporate offsites, team outings, one day picnics, birthdays and small celebrations, with pets and children genuinely welcome.
Satara city is roughly thirty minutes away, Thoseghar and Sajjangad within an easy morning, and Pune around three hours by road. Come in monsoon for the mist and waterfalls, in September for the Kaas flowers, or in winter for clear starry nights over the valley.

Hi! I'm Sovhita Shalgar, and it gives me immense joy to welcome you to Shalgar Villa.
Since 2016, hosting our heritage homestay has been one of the most beautiful journeys of my life. A microbiologist turned entrepreneur, I have always loved cooking and feeding people, and Shalgar Villa gave me a wonderful opportunity to share that love with guests from all walks of life.
Nestled just 4 km from the world heritage site of Kaas Plateau, our villa overlooks the serene backwaters of Kanher Dam and is surrounded by misty valleys, mountain views and the soothing sounds of nature. From peaceful mornings to glowing sunsets, every moment here is special.
One of my favourite parts of hosting is serving fresh, home-cooked Maharashtrian meals, prepared with local ingredients and served with warmth. I believe good food, genuine hospitality and beautiful surroundings are what make a stay truly memorable.
Over the years, every guest, conversation and shared meal has added to the soul of Shalgar Villa. Hosting is not just my work; it is a part of who I am.
I feel blessed to nurture this home with love and care, and my greatest aim is to ensure that every guest leaves refreshed, happy and carrying unforgettable memories of nature, food and togetherness.
I look forward to welcoming you to our little corner of the Sahyadris.
